was established in 2005 by Desiree Bates, a San Diego native who was literally "BORN DIRTY" in Ocotillo Wells. Desiree's first trip to the dez was in her dad's volkswagen 2280 dune buggy when she was just 3 months old and it was LOVE ever since.
She inherited the passion for off roading from her dad, Michael Bates, who was an avid off roader himself. "My family was in the desert EVERY weekend" says Desiree. "Even on holidays when my grandparents wanted to see us, my dad had his priorities and that was THE DESERT."
When Desiree (or Dezzi as her family and friends call her) was 9 years old her dad finally taught her and her sister, Michelle, to ride on their first 1985 Honda 185. She then graduated to a 2 stroke 250R Honda 3-wheeler. Dezzi then bought herself a *BRAND NEW* Quad and rode that for about 3 months until her friend Steve introduced her to a 1986 Honda 250R dirt bike. "The back tire was BALD and the sand was soft so I crashed a lot, but I KNEW I was already going to sell my BRAND NEW quad." Today Dezzi's bike of choice is an 05' CRF450X .
Dezzi has upheld her dads tradition of riding in the desert just about EVERY WEEKEND. Recently broken ribs and torn ligaments in her knee from a crash at Elsinore MX have set her back a bit, but as soon as those bad girls were healed she was back on her faithful 450 riding in her home desert of Ocotillo Wells. Even though Dezzi is a desert rider she still rides during the summer months at Lake Elsinore MX Park as well as Amago Sports Park located on the La Jolla Indian Reservation.
As an art school graduate Dezzi combined her passion and talents for art, animation, web design and metal fabrication with her passion for the Desert... and Born Dirty was Born. Now that Born Dirty is growing out of an infancy and becoming a real company Dezzi and the rest of the dirty crew have donated merchandise, time, and effort to organizations such as Operation Desert Fun, Los Pretot's of Ocotillo Wells, and the American Sand Association. In 07' Born Dirty added another important affiliate ... The San Diego Off Road Coalition to their list of sponsors.
